Travis is not new to knocking the wind out of himself but I don’t really think it’s something that anyone becomes accustom to no matter how many times you do. The act of gasping for air, knowing it with evenutally come back, you just hope sooner then later is still not one of the funest things to indure, but and I mean this in the nicest way possible, it sure can be funny for those who are watching. Especially with us ’cause it usually follows something dumb that we thought of, or someone not committing to something! I can’t remember how many times I have seen that look on Travis’s face along the very odd sound that one makes when fighting to get their breath back after knocking the wind out themselves. Travis is very loud and very distinct, as was caught on tape last year at the Winter Games filming in Utah when we was trying to backflip the snow-cycle and went a little too big trying to beat Jim.
So while we were at the Forgotten Lake and he was sick of seeing nobody complete what he thought was a completely simple task, he stepped up and on the first try, proved his point! He had everyone chuckling at the fact that he had clammed to be sitting this one out but was now once again gasping for air as the repercussions of his body slammed a huge high speed bell flopped onto the water from a forward jumping motion off the beach behind the Ogio boat. As I stood there laughing and taking pictures of him in discomfort as he slowly and painfully swam and then clawed his way back onto the beach, this lead me to my thought of how many times I have seen Travis knock the wind of himself, which then leads me to this little flashback remembering one of his hardest and maybe not so funny at first hits when we were filming the Summer Games last year at his house in MD and once again wanting to upstage Jim and ending up dislocating a couple of his ribs, (which he still to-date mentions that they are out of place and cause him discomfort at times) as he crashed and yes, knocked the wind out of himself.
It all started with Travis bringing in some guys from Woodward, having them bring and set-up a huge resey as part of the NC Summer Games ‘07. There was to be a best trick and big air competition. Travis didn’t win either of these, but not for lack of trying in true Travis style throwing a fricken-wicked-redonkuliss attempt at a double backflip on his mountain bike, crashing and leaving for the hospital before the contest had even really started! Fortunately his Father Robert was there to tell him what a whimp he was being and that there was really no need for him to go to the hospital! Oh, good old Robert always there for those words of encouragement just when you need them most and to pick you up when your down! Travis did nail the first and even the second rotation and would have had it but at the last minute, thought he didn’t, twisting his head and body position, which then stopped his rotation and had him hit the landing extremely hard on his side. (This footage is also in the ThrillBillies video) The sound rang through his backyard as he got up from the crash, stumbling around gasping for air and holding what he thought were broken ribs. As Travis has no patience he was already try to explain even before he was done gasping for air why he chickened out at the last second.
I’d have to say if there is one person in the world that has managed by repetition, to master the fine art of knocking the wind out of yourself and doing with grace, it’s gotta be TP!

I hope Travis keeps knocking the wind out of himself for a long time to come. Nitro Circus is the most entertaining show I have ever seen. Travis’ brand of craziness is so unique and fun to watch. There’s nothing else like it on the tube. Now if he could just figure out how to do all that stuff without breaking or “relocating” bones in the process…

guys of the nitro crew come 2 australia. i wanna learn how 2 ride just like use do and go pro. i have a bike and have failed too many times trying 2 renner whip its impossible i think i should try riding 2 strokes seeing as 4s are to heavy to throw around and my yz250f is heavy for a scrawny guy like me. give us some tips over here i could use em . i wanna try and get good enough to do backflips or what ever ur all just the awesomest come to australia i garentee u will like it here. help me out nitro circus crew !!!!
travis in all that you do to have fun you always get the wind knocked out of you and come up swinging and saying thats fun lets do that again. in arkanansas you would fit right in because everyone loves you and the nitro crew

Hey Nitro Crew LOVE your show i watch at least an episode a day. Im obsessed. Anyhow Ive Got a Stunt idea for you guys. Wagon Surfing. Me and my cousin, were out and our back yard and we were fooling around with the wagon. and so i stood up and she pushed me down our hill, and we had our selfs quite a fun time. Your porbably never going to even read this but oh well it takes up some of my time. Tips for wagon surfing: Dont attempt a turn the wagon gts un easy and turn and almost flips if you dont bail. That about it. Go Travis, Jolene, Erik, Jim, And Renner. (Notice how I dont say Andy. He’s To fat.) Haha You guys are awesome love your show. -Zach

i love you guys! Jolene you are my idol! you can tough it out when you get hurt just like me. i am a mini version of you. im always hanging out with the guys and doing extreme stuff like buildind bike ramps in my yard, playing football, wresting goats, and racing gocarts and quads. every sunday i always watch you guys do the craziest and stupidest stunts like racing lawn mowers. my favorite episode was Jamacian me crazy.
So we are now what,ten weeks into the show? I realized yesterday that I have a great job. I get on stage and do comedy for hundreds of people and comedy specials for comedy central for 1.3 million and after watching this show I realize I don’t have the best job in the world DAMMIT! Travis and the N/C crew does. I wakeboard, snowboard skateboard, was driving at nine, I own a CRF 450 (it scares the piss out of me!) Travis told me on the tonight show that we did together that it was too much bike. He was right. After doing all that, I watch this show and realize I. am. a. puss. The N/C crew is the best thing on television! My four year old is mesmerized and we watch it together every week. Keep doing what you do and for god sakes… Go big, be safe. Tommy is the bravest dude on the show, no skills whatsoever and he still goes for it! That dude is the wind beneath your wings. Keep it up! thanks for keeping my adrenal gland tuned up.

my names john palumbo, im 19, and im from coventry RI. ive been a large fan of jackass and wildboys and all those crazy shoes for as long as i can remember them being on tv. i first dicovered this show for myself on youtube and ever since i have been absolutely obssesed with it. im glued to the tv in my room every single time its on. i dont care. rerun or not. you guys do the things i have dreamt of doing since my childhood. unfortunately i have never had money to get a bike or anything like that and ive never really traveled. but all of you do things i wish i could take a stab at. i love sports. and im fasicnated by anything with an engine. kinda what i plan on basing my life upon. it would be awesome if you guys were to come around here sometime. i mean. i realize chances are i couldnt be on the show for safety purposes, but just to be around so many talented and awesome people would be intense. and id just like to add on a sidenote. jolene is probably one of the most gorgeous women ive ever seen in my life. shes pretty much my hero. i know you guys probably dont personally read these hahaha. but it would be awesome to hear something back. good luck and stay well. look forward to the next show.

Nitro circus and crew should be arrested for climbing up the pine trees on show I saw on MTV on April 19, 2009. If you were on Public land it is against the law to damage trees that are not dead. How stupid do you have to be to do something like that? I have been in contact with the BLM and the Forest service to check if you had permits to be doing what you were doing. Also am checking to see if you had the proper permits to film were you where. I am not a tree hugger I am just sick of shows like this one showing people doing stuff that is so stupid to be doing. As an avid outdoorsman it makes me sick to see a group of people like you guys do stunts like this. I can see you were never taught to leave the outdoors like you found it, I am sure you are the same ones that leave all of your trash laying around when you are done. I have also contacted the National news stations along with Cable news stations to see if they will do show so Nitro Circus can be exposed for it lack of care of what it does to nature.
