Kurtis Downs Is Ready to Send It at His First X Games

July 13, 2017

BMX star Kurtis Downs will compete in his first X Games in Minneapolis this weekend, a moment that’s been years in the making for the Nitro veteran. Kurtis’ BMX journey is a strange one. He started out as a dirtbike rider and was invited to tour with Nitro Circus because of his versatility and small stature — perfect for riding Nitro contraptions. Kurtis has since won the respect of Nitro’s legendary BMX roster. Known for adapting FMX tricks to BMX, he is one of Nitro’s many athletes revolutionizing the sport with fresh ideas from other disciplines. Last year was a pivotal year in his career. He was invited to the X Games as an alternate and took home second place in the Nitro World Games BMX Best Tricks competition. Judging from his social media, Kurtis is pretty stoked to be in Minneapolis as a competitor this year, and we’re all stoked to see how he does.
