Chad Kagy already had his training wheels off by the age of four. At eight he started racing BMX. When Kagy was only 17, he entered his first pro competition, putting his name on the map.
At the 2004 X Games, people called Chad the comeback kid after placing fourth. Only nine months earlier Chad had suffered a broken neck. In 2005, he placed third in the year-end Dew Cup standings and second at the X Games. Improving in 2006 to take second at the AST Dew Tour and winning the X Games. After a very solid start to the 2007 season, Kagy was sidelined after suffering a collarbone injury. In 2008 and 2009 Kagy saw consistent seasons finishing 2nd place overall both years. In 2010, Chad took home the gold medal in X Games and 2nd place overall for the Dew Tour standings. 2011 came with a 2nd place finish at the first stop of the Dew Tour and a Bronze Medal at X Games in Big Air. 2012 was a busy year full of Nitro Circus Live Tours, X Games Big Air & Vert and Chad also won his first ever freestyle mountain bike event.
Chad started 2013 off with a very successful Nitro Circus Live Tour in New Zealand followed by a 2 1/2 week Teva mountain bike tour in New Zealand. X Games started in Foz Do Iguassu where Chad earned a silver medal in Big Air. The next X Games in Barcelona was a monumental Vert event for Chad pulling the front flip flair for the first time. A few weeks later Chad stood on top of the podium with a gold medal in Munich, Germany for doing a cliffhangar flip to a flair tailwhip on the Big Air ramp.
