Idaho native Kurtis Downs is one of the most dynamic and innovative BMX riders in the game. He tends to keep a low profile, but his podium finish at the inaugural Nitro World Games in BMX Best Tricks and his super technical riding that is inspired by FMX — including the World First BMX stripper flip — have been impossible to miss if you pay attention to action sports. That FMX influences his riding is no coincidence. Kurtis started out riding dirtbikes at a very young age and got into racing. His first attempt at a trick on BMX was at a moto race — he attempted a barspin on another kid’s bike. A few weeks later, he picked up his own bike, and a legend was born.
